Sorry about the lack of post yesterday — I was out and about for my birthday! Anyway, I doubt many of you will be reading t-shirt blogs today, it being Christmas Eve and all, but that matters little to your faithful blogger.
I don’t usually write about daily t-shirt sites for the same reason as many other bloggers — by the time you read the post, chances are the opportunity to buy that shirt has passed. However, since I’m assuming a lot of people are drained of their monetary resources right now, I won’t feel bad babbling about some of the really gorgeous designs that have been offered up lately.
I love today’s shirt at Teefury. I’m not a hip-hop person at all, so it wouldn’t be something I’d ever wear, but I’m a huge fan of thestray‘s work and his talent for illustration truly shines through in this piece. The Flight of the Conchords reference is a nice touch.
After a relatively disappointing trend of mediocre releases, it’s great to see Design By Humans back in the game. Today’s new shirt, “Photographic Memory“, is in the abstract-collage-with-some-vintage-added-in style I always love to see. This design is an exciting mash-up of bright colors and black and white, vintage imagery and vector graphics. I like the lightning bolts, rain, clouds, and wind, which help tie the randomness together. Excellent job, neonbeast! You’ve definitely captured this artist’s heart.
Yesterday’s shirt, “Ship to Shore“, was also quite good. The soft purple tee is attractive — not too bold, not too pale — and goes perfectly with the dreamlike quality of the image. The stylized waves (and the little cup of water with fish) are what make this design so successful. The placement is also wonderful, though by now I’m not surprised at DBH’s penchant for picking designs excelling in this area.
Teextile has also printed one of its most famous designs, “Blind out“. Buyers should beware, though: Teextile is still mired in printing/shipping problems that has people waiting more than a month for their order. On top of that, some packages get lost, and complicated prints from Teextile have a history of not coming out well. Oh, and they’re printing on Alstyle instead of American Apparel now. Sad, because I’m sure a lot more people would not hesitate to jump on this amazing, high-contrast design if it wasn’t for those issues.
