Well, DBH has thoroughly disappointed me with their top 8 finalists, so I’ll push off covering that another day.
A couple days ago, I was pleased to see German artist Heiko Windisch‘s “Hellraiser” feature on Teefury. I’ve been a big fan of his quirky style ever since discovering his work, so that was a nice surprise. “Hellraiser” was well-chosen as his ambassador to the Teefury masses, as it exemplifies his art: creative ideas, monstrous/horrific creatures turned adorable, and a sharp CMYK color palette.
Now, the Teefury feature may be over, but you can still grab this excellent design from Redbubble on dark or light shirts. It’s a lot more expensive, of course (not to mention I’ve found Redbubble’s printing to be a tad shoddy) but if you like the illustration enough, I’m sure you won’t mind. (Plus, Redbubble prints on American Apparel, in case you’re like me and don’t particularly like Teefury’s blanks.)
I’ll admit it — I’ve never watched Robocop. I barely know anything about it, other than the fact that its titular character is all over the Internet. Even so, that didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying Go Ape‘s new shirt by the famed Olly Moss, which stars the venerable cop astride a unicorn. Complete with an appropriately voluminous cloak, and a majestic pose worthy of a general’s statue. Great concept aside, the artwork on this tee is just fantastic, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from Moss. This design is full of elegant details and superb shading, making the most of its limited palette.

This 2nd Anniversary Collector’s Set has been out for a while from Ugmonk, and I wholeheartedly regret that I haven’t had the chance to write about it until now! At $50, it’s far beyond the affordable range for a single t-shirt (at least for me), but part of the value comes not only from the fact that it’s strictly limited edition, but because the tee — excellently designed, as usual — comes housed in a gorgeous wooden box with a burned-in logo, a custom wooden coin, and a signed collector’s card stating the edition number. Might I also add that the tissue paper was well chosen? That’s a lovely shade of blue.
As for the shirt, it looks great, of course. I won’t go as far as to say it’s the best thing Ugmonk has ever put out — mostly because this brand has such astronomically high standards of quality — but it sure is easy on the eyes and the neutral palette is well-chosen. Right now several sizes are sold out, but if you wear Men’s Small, Medium, Large, or Women’s M or L, you’re still good to go!
