I’m actually sitting in a lecture right now, but I thought I’d share this interesting article that popped up on my Twitter feed. In this article, I Am The Trend‘s Adam Hendle presents a simple question: just how much should a brand charge for their t-shirts? He links to a blog post by Dance Party Massacre justifying their $21-$28 prices. Underneath that, Electric Zombie‘s Kyle Crawford comes in with his well-known, passionate opinion that such prices are rip-offs.
Personally, being a college student with limited funds, any shirt that costs over $20 will make me hesitate to hit the “Checkout” button. However, if there’s a shirt I really, really like over that limit (such as the wonders from Imaginary Foundation) I will consider saving up for it. I suppose it just comes down to the quality of the design and the blank it’s printed on, though lower prices will certainly remove any lingering hesitation.
What do you think? Would you pay a premium price for a t-shirt? (Consider that a rhetorical question; I encourage you to take all discussion to the original post at I Am The Trend!)
