Today, I review shirts from Clients From Hell, Clintees, and Headline Shirts.

Clients From Hell is an absolutely hilarious (or, alternatively, horrific) blog chronicling the plights of designers beleaguered by the most atrociously incompetent, unfair, creepy, downright violent clients in the existence of man. It’s definitely worth a read if you’ve ever been a part of the design industry, or plan to be a part of it (like yours truly). Their logo is simple and straightforward — your stereotypical corporate drone, wearing a disgruntled expression and a pair of devil horns. Coincidentally, it just happens to look great as a tee design: it’s subtle, but gets its point across with considerable strength. Also available in women’s sizes and, hilariously enough, a stress ball (the description for which is just fantastic).

Buy It: $20 on an American Apparel 50/50 Tee

I discovered Clintees not too long ago, and instantly fell in love with their unique combination of New York City street style with vintage graphics and a touch of retro pop culture. They’ve got an awesome web site to boot. This unnamed t-shirt is one of their many strictly black and white designs, featuring a double sided print. (The back side has the same design as the front, only turned upside down.) You wouldn’t expect a shirt prominently featuring a goofy face printed huge across the chest and back to be classy or stylish, but Clintees seems to have accomplished just that with great flair. I highly recommend checking out their other designs if you like this shirt; there are some great minimalist type tees and a creepy-yet-surprisingly-intriguing shirt featuring Marilyn Monroe with mouths for eyes (it looks a lot better than it sounds, trust me).

Buy It: $21.99 on an American Apparel 50/50 Tee

I try to stay away from political material on this blog, but I couldn’t help but post this tee by Headline Shirts when I saw it. Sarah Palin is a marvel who could only exist in the US: a woman who is totally unequipped to be a major political leader, yet commands tremendous influence over the landscape. I could say more, but I believe that Headline Shirts does it with much more panache in their product description:

“Good for you, Sarah Palin. A lesser human might have wilted under the blaze of her own, blinding hypocrisy. But not you. You’re a regular gal who gets paid $100k for a night of speaking. Only in your world could a Tea Party made of mostly old, rich whites bitching about taxes somehow be called a ‘revolution.’”

I also enjoy the riff on the Sex Pistols’ “God Save the Queen” shirt; the addition of the tiara and the safety pin nose piercing help give this design an extra edge.

Available also in a women’s gray scoop neck.

Buy It: $19 on a 100% cotton crew neck / 50/50 scoop neck

The good people at Headline Shirts have agreed to a one week 15% off special. Come and find out more and see some of their shirts.

About Headlineshirts: I’ve been a long time fan of Headline Tees (I interviewed them way back in June 2006), they’re a name you don’t see pop up that often I think because they don’t usually do sales. I’ve tried to get them to setup a coupon or sale a few time over the years to give me more of an excuse to blog about their brilliant shirts. What I like most is the message behind the shirts, and the quality of the writing, like for the shirt Elect Bland Compromise (now retired), check out this blurb

“Des Moines, Iowa – Billing himself as the “least sucky option”, a new candidate named Bland Compromise officially, if unceremoniously, threw his hat into the ring yesterday. If elected, Compromise pledged that he would be “tolerable.”

“Sure, I may not ‘stand’ for anything, or even have my own point of view on the issues of the day,” he said. “And yes, I may leave an unpleasant taste in your mouth, not unlike spoiled yogurt. But there’s one thing I am not, and that is my opponents. And since you apparently detest them even worse, I guess I’m pretty much all you’ve got.”

His announcement was greeted with a smattering of limp-wristed applause by a small group of people, who appreciated his honesty but were mostly just relieved that he was done talking.”

Well the good news is that Headline shirts have just finished their relaunch, which means there are loads of new shirts and a slick new interface making it much easier to find them (the old site wasn’t to browsing friendly). Also they now coupon code functionality and have agreed to offer Tee-Junction readers our own exclusive 15% off code for the next week. Brilliant!

All of their shirts are a reaction to current headlines, hence headline shirts. Usually their shirts are $24, but after the code they’ll be $20.40. Some are $20 to start with, so $17 after the discount.

Here are two more:

Both are $15. The following shirt perfectly summarizes the feeling I get sometimes when I’m writing for or reading t-shirt blogs:

There is a certain sense of showmanship, as we herald the latest super rare t-shirt to come out of japan printed just once, on an egyptian cotton shirt, costing the price of your house and affordable by just a trust fund muppet. For times like these, I need a shirt like this.

When I’m bashing out posts for my 10 or so blogs early in the morning, in my lunchbreak, in the evening, on a Sunday I sometime notice that I’m paying little attention to what they say, I’m just typing through the motions like the proverbial monkey at the proverbial typewriter bashing away until the complete works of Shakespeare are formed in front of me.

Headline Shirts Coupon Code: Use the discount code TEEJUNCTION15 to save 15%.

Expiry: 24th Feb.

My two all time favourite Headline Shirts are the two that I own, and that’s US Media Report (now retired) and Noahs Dillema.

I’ve probably talked enough now, so in conclusion go checkout Headline Shirts if you find something you like use the coupon code to get a few $’s off it.
