$6 shirts from 6dollarshirts.com

By Adam Fletcher

Sometime you don’t want steak. Sometimes you don’t want to eat out. Sometimes you just want a ham and cheese sandwich. For days like that we have sites like $6dollarshirts who I only found today when they popped up in my gmail sponsored links. (Full review and sample shirts in full post)

You’ll notice that t-shirt bloggers pimp Busted Tees and Snorg Tees probably a little more than we should, because they have good affiliate schemes which make us a little money for our effort. It’s not that their bad sites, its just that their not the sort of t-shirts you start t-shirt blogs to share.

So flying completely in the the face of that argument I’m going to blog a site so similar to Busted and Snorg, which has no affiliate scheme, for which I’ll get nothing but a warm post blog glow – welcome $6dollartshirts.

$6_header

That price is unreal. $6 is nothing, I know from working in this industry it’ll cost you roughly $4 to screenprint a shirt depending on brand and quantity. So this is really going some and you’re going to buy few cheaper shirts. They’re actually only $5 a shirt if you buy ten.

But what are the shirts like you ask? Well slogan and pop culture heavy humour shirts, you know these shirts, you’’ve seen very similar things before on other sites. Lets take a look at some of my favourite ones:

shirt_selection

You now know that I’m from Europe, a closet Bruce Springsteen fan and I just returned from Australia, oh and I need a new monitor.

Just how similar are these shirts to those featured on Busted Teed and Snorg (and no doubt 100 smaller sites of similar ilk)?

Lets compare, here are two $6dollar shirts

copy_cat

And here is their Snorg and Busted counterparts (Bustedtees is the left one, Snorg is the Japan one)

copy_cat_busted_snorg

Pretty similar I’d say. But cheaper, just $6 which I might have already mentioned a few hundred times.

So in conclusion if you’re into these type of shirts you’ll be into $6dollarshirts.

6dollarshirts Coupon Code, Discount Code: None so far, I’m working on it.

Cool site, I wasn't familiar with them at all. $6 is amazingly cheap!

The shipping though is another thing….

    • ana

      how much is the shipping??

    • james

is 6dollarshirts for real? or is it a scam?

    • http://www.bonerlover.com matt

      its a scam

    • Cathy

The way they get you is that shipping is $8.50 for two shirts, which almost doubles the price of the shirts, talk about false advertising. At least on shirt.woot.com a ten dollar shirt is ten dollars.

    • jamie

cool shirts but the shipping costs more than the shirt so really it ends up being regularpricedshirts.com

    • Charles

I bit, and got bitten. The shipping was a bit high ($20 for 10 shirts) but I pulled the trigger anyway thinking what the hell, they're $5 shirts (when you buy 10). It took 3 weeks to ship, they completely screwed up my order, and their customer service is non-existent (by phone or email). To turn a couple of clichés, you get what you pay for (not this time), and if it is too good to be true, it most definitely is.

    • fletchy

ah well you win some, you lose some I guess Charles. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences with us all at Tee-Junction so we don't make the same mistake.

    • TheRealJobe

Just an FYI I wish I would have seen Charles' post earlier. I put an order in 2 weeks ago, and can't get a response to an email, and no one has ever picked up their phone. Now I did get a confirmation that my order was received and “processed,” but nothing else. No tracking, no ETA, nothing. What I find odd is they claim if your order is delayed someone will contact you. So it would appear that something has to be later than two weeks before they consider it delayed.

Now it appears they received my order correctly (itemized receipt was included in the “processed” notification email,) but let’s see what, if anything, shows up on my door.

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. When you look at their website some of the “office” pictures make the whole operation seem pretty adhoc/fly by night.

As it stands today, they seem to have a serious service problem that will end up shutting them down in a hurry.

Also, the shipping is ridiculous 10 shirts 3 states, $16. I would have rather had them tie some of that cost into the price of the shirt and be upfront with me. That dishonesty should have been my first clue their would be problems.

    • TheRealJobe

One more update, what concerns me the most is when you call their phone number no one will pick up and different things happen. Once it simply cut to a fast busy, and the other time a recorded voice message told me no one was available and told me to hang up and try again.

    • TheRealJobe

Another update. I received an email reply to my original email request for a tracking number.
To recap my order was “processed” on the 15th, my email requesting a tracking number was sent on the 18, and the first reply I got, which did include a tracking number was replied to on the 26…

Amazing as they say on their site it may take up to 2 business days to reply to email. Of course it also said someone would call me if my order is delayed. While no one called me, the reply email certainly stated they were sorry for the “unusual” delay.

A few other points of interest. They said my order was shipped on the 24th. UPS disagrees and said they weren't contacted until the 25th. However, my favorite part of the email is that it said it was shipped via UPS ground, but when you click on the hyperlink in the email it takes you to the U S PS site.

I hope they include some of whatever their on with my shirts.

Oh and just to confirm the rumor they are THREAD PIT as you can see by the notice I got from UPS below:

“This message was sent to you at the request of THREAD PIT INC to notify you that the electronic shipment information below has been transmitted to UPS. The physical package(s) may or may not have actually been tendered to UPS for shipment. To verify the actual transit status of your shipment, click on the tracking link below or contact THREAD PIT INC directly. “

    • TheRealJobe

Just an FYI in the final chapter… The shirts arrived neatly stuffed into a box that was clearly 1 size to small.

The shirts were better quality than I thought they would be, and they were made by several different manufacturers, most notably Hanes. A few of the lighter colored shirts were nearly sheer when a single side was held against my hand, but nothing I would consider unwearable.

My only real complaint besides time and lack of communication was the quality of the screen print itself… With the shirts being pressed together so tightly in the undersized box I could actually hear the screen-print making a peeling sound as I pried the shirts apart. As a result two of the screen prints had little (no bigger than 1/8 by 1/8) sections of the print peel off the shirt before I even put it on… Really an annoyance more than anything else…

Would I ever order from them again? I might but I would be hard pressed to do so.
Hope this experience helps someone else out there.

Also had a negative experience with them. I ordered 10 shirts (in fatty size, so they were 10 for $70 instead of $50), then the shipping was about $20 on top of that. About $90 total, then several of my shirts looked different in color than what was pictured. No big deal generally, but one was noticeably off in color (like 15 shades of off). What was pictured as a red with a tiny bit of a pink cast to it (think mechanic towels) was actually an extremely light pink (about 10% red, 90% white). Needless to say, I asked them to send me the color I ordered or a different color altogether, & I never heard back from them. Now I ended up with 9 shirts I will wear, only 6 of which were the color I expected, costing about $10 a piece. Not nearly the great deal I was expecting. Not going to order from them again.

    • Andres

mmm.. I'm still waiting on my order to arrive. I guess if the coustmers in the US have problems i will also have trouble knowing what the hell is up with my order. has anyone not gotten their order?

    • fletchy

yep people have gotten their shirts Andres, while they're a little flakey
and not skilled in the customer service department, they're a legit company.

    • Francesco

From Italy: 3 months and I HAVENT' RECEIVED THE TSHIRTS.
The don't tell me a tracking number (FOR INTERNATIONAL ORDER).

I think is a fraud or a not organized company.

    • pinkshirtbrian

Same experience here – ordered 'Azalea' which is deep pink, got 'Powder Pink' (had ordered a powder pink ladies shirt, and it is EXACTLY the same color). Also ordered a random ladies shirt, and got a men's sized one. Emailed them about it, and they said nothing about the wrong sized random shirt, and about the 'Azalea':
“The azalea color on our website misrepresents the actual color of the shirt, and we are sorry about that. If you'd like to exchange your shirt, please send the shirt back to us, along with a statement of
what shirt you would like in exchange.”
BS – if it is misrepresented on the site, they need to take it off the site, and they need to ship me a new shirt. I am not spending $5 to ship back something that they screwed up. Does anyone know who their credit card merchant company is? I want to file a complaint with them.
If they do not fix the issue, I am disputing my credit card charges.
Terrible customer service. The shirts are very thin fabric as well – pretty low quality.

    • Andreas

I'm actually quite happy with the shirts, the vintage blue is a bit more blue then on the site, but hey: they're still 6 dollars. You can't compare screen-colours with actual colors, not even if you print it the picture of the shirt.
It took a little while before I got a tracking number but the package arrive neat and in good shape on the right day.

Although I'm happy with the shirts, I'm gonna return my own shirts because they're a bit to large, normally I have XL (Live in Holland) but I need an American M (ordered L). That's gonna cost me 20 euro's for shipping the L shirts back. I hope I don't get another 40 bucks for shipping the M shirts from them to me. Cause that's about a total of 50 euro's for me to pay because the size chart on the site isn't really helpfull.

Yeah, I know, it's across the Atlantic Ocean but I'm still student and 50 euros extra is alot for 6 shirts.

    • tgweathers

I have had nothing but trouble with 6dollarshirts! The website is very unorganized, the tracking device on the website does not work, the customer help is completely incompetent, and the discount that the website offers is not as good as it seems when you the price for shipping. DO NOT ORDER FROM 6DOLLARSHIRTS! Just about the only good thing about 6dollarshirts is the shirts themselves.

    • andreas

Hmm thats strange. I'll give an update over my own experience: the tracking device worked for me on
ups' own site. They were helping well with details over what to send and it only cost me about 20 euro's to exchange 6 shirts what is quite a lot. Total price per shirt is eventually for me 6.78 euro, which is really cheap if you think about it. Shipping took long but that's fairly normal I think. I would really recommend it.

    • Kate

I hesitated to order $6 shirts after seeing the negative posts, but did anyways, and I am very pleased
with everything. I had a tracking # and received everything within a little over a week. The shirts
are good quality and the prints look good. Shipping was expensive, but it still came out to about
$10/shirt which is very reasonable! i think the website has come a long way since some of the
      earlier posts above.

PS I love my mystery shirt!

    • chief overlord

Well. I live in Australia. They wanted to charge me $68 in shipping, to buy $50 worth of shirts. Can you believe that? They have their '10 shirts for 50 dollars' sign up, trying to lure customers in. I say 'that's great,' and waste half an hour picking the 10 shirts. In the back of my mind, I knew there had to be a catch. I was expecting 'yeah they're going to spring $25 shipping on me'. But no. They wanted to charge me $68 for shipping. $68 to send me ten pieces of cotton in the mail. Look. T Shirts in shops are expensive these days. And $118 for ten shirts is still very cheap. It's possible- even probable- that I would have bought the shirts if they advertised the true cost up front. Certainly if it were 10 for 100. Shirts in the shops routinely cost 50 dollars these days (which is a cruel joke, but that's how much they cost). So 10 for 100 is a good price. 10 for 118 is also a good price. But I refuse to pay it because they tried to trick me. Tried to lure me in with this idea that I'd be getting 10 shirts for 5 dollars each, then springing a trap at the last moment, either hoping I wouldn't notice or that I would be too enamoured with the shirts to walk away from the transaction. It's predatory behaviour. It's dishonest. So I sent them an angry letter, but I felt that wouldn't be enough. They need some bad publicity. So I'm here to tell you this company sucks. If you live in the USA then I don't know, maybe $20 shipping for 10 shirts is acceptable. It probably is. But they tried to charge me $68 to ship ten pieces of cotton. I have bought 15 books from amazon.com, which came in a box that would weigh about 25-30 times the amount that such a package of t-shirts would weigh, and the shipping was less than $20. So let there be no mistake here: the shipping costs they claim are not real. They are inflating the shipping cost, pretending it is high when it isn't. This is a dishonest company.

    • ..

      No it's not you dipshit.

    • More_pork_on_your_fork

$20 if you live in New Zealand, not to mention the exchange rate.

If you buy 10 shirts from $6 tees the shipping comes down considerably. The shipping isn't actualy that expensive.

$6 tees also have quite high quality to.

I'd MUCH rather deal with $6 tes than shirt.woot any day!

    • Tyler J

it is awesome until the shipping is over $10, i would have bought several of them but not when the shipping is 165% of the original good Im not ordering it, I work in logistics and know the actual rate and this is over twice what it actually costs

    • http://twitter.com/Reibis Tara Kuzma

So… because they're a bunch of lying poopie faces you're going to take your pride as a customer
and go to a store that will never give you the prices of this store, because they're honest? I think your head is a little too far up your behind.
The shirts still end up being cheaper through them than going to a custom print store where they will charge you 30 dollars for a single SIMPLE design. The prices are spread out, this company isn't
Committing fraud of any sort so I'll just sit back and wait for my awesome t-shirts, while you go
looking for some honest retail places, which in the end none are ever honest. Good luck with your
unneeded pride in this discussion, lol!

    • http://twitter.com/Reibis Tara Kuzma

It's only worth the buy if you get 1 or 2 t-shirts. Anything more than that the shipping is doubled, and you've lost the decent delivery charge. I bought 4 and shipping was 14 bucks or something. Still not too bad, but better of a deal than going to a retail store. Mind you I'm Canadian, so this is the best price I've ever come by as our tax rate on items is 12%
