I’m loving the tees from this week’s Threadless release. Lim Heng Swee’s “The Beach” in particular is just incredible. Putting aside my weakness for all-over prints, the idea is mindblowingly creative. I love the minute details found in the individual beachgoers, and the lovely gradient between the sand and the water. This is the perfect kind of tee for the summer, serving as yet another painful reminder that there are still many months to go before New York sees warm weather. Did I mention that I love the model shots?
Many t-shirt companies are pitching in to Haiti relief efforts, and Threadless is no exception! Everything about “Many Hands Make the Load Lighter” is donated: the printing, the design, and of course, the proceeds. Up to $100,000 in sales will be given to the Red Cross! The cute, brightly-colored houses spell out “men anpil chay pa lou”, which translates to the design’s title. On top of that, this shirt is priced at an extremely affordable $10, so don’t hesitate to buy!
My last pick for the week is “Alien Assault“, a splendid example of isometric pixel art. The light-to-shadow fades on this piece are masterfully done, so much that the piece doesn’t look like pixel art from a distance! I also love the color scheme; it’s brighter than the artist’s mockup, but I find that it still works quite well — it gives the piece a bit of a comic-book feel. The downside is that the yellow and red fires/explosions/laser beams get kind of lost in the brightness of the teal blank. Hopefully that’s just the lighting in the model photos, though.
Buy Them: $20, $10, and $18, respectively, at Threadless.com
