Another incredibly strong Spring 2010 release, this time from personal long-time favorite miles to go. This line is distinguished by a large amount of new designs and a small series of limited edition prints, garnished with the unique literary and mythological themes we’ve come to expect from the brand.
You can use the coupon 1984 (or our exclusive code, teejunction) for 25% off your purchase. The former is valid until April 25th, and ours is good forever.
I’ll start with my personal favorite, a piece based on Orwell’s classic novel 1984. I’ve only ever read part of the book, but from what I do know of it, this design emulates its atmosphere to a tee. The style is reminiscent of vintage propaganda posters, with the harsh reds and yellows often associated with oppressive government. This tee is available for both men and women and is printed with super-soft discharge ink. This is a fantastic printing technique that should see much more use, in my opinion — it’s nearly weightless after one wash, yet retains the vibrant colors of the ink. This was a must-buy from the moment I saw it — I can’t wait to get it in the mail!
This shirt based on The Invisible Man is a close second, and would have been purchased alongside the 1984 tee if it wasn’t for my dwindling wallet. I love the way Keaton Henson’s sketchy, spidery style contrasts with the texture of the tri-blend tee. This tee is also available for both guys and girls; I rather like the way the print ends at the bottom of the girls tee, as opposed to the way it hangs around on the middle of the shirt on the guy’s version. It’s also available on a limited edition white colorway (almost sold out ATM) and a salt-and-pepper hoodie. I applaud Greg’s decision to make it logo-free, as I find that extraneous chest logos often ruin an otherwise awesome hoodie.
I was surprised to find that “Master & Margarita” was not offered in women’s sizes, as I could see this being popular amongst female buyers (though it is available as a unisex tank top!). It has a very “chic” look, thanks to the fantastic art style — I especially love the sense of texture in the details and linework. Personally, I prefer this tri-coffee colorway over the heather black version, where the cat gets lost in the dark background. The coffee also complements the golden yellow ink used on the city and the cat’s halo and glasses.
On a personal note, allow me to mention that this is a brand worth supporting — not only because it puts out incredible products, but because Greg (its owner) is a real stand-up guy. Take it from me, the customer service is unmatched, so don’t hesitate to pick up one of these sweet tees.
You can see more new items in the gallery below, excluding variant colorways. Honestly, I recommend just going to the store yourself to check out the line!
