It’s refreshing to see a daily-tee site not go the way of the dinosaur due to bad management. (See: Teextile, 5quidink, etc.) To be fair, the uniquely-named StupidHurts.us (formerly StupidHurts.me; why the change?), experienced similar problems, and shut down for a couple months to recuperate and relaunch. I’m really glad to see them back, because their riff on the “cheap daily shirt” model makes a successful attempt to be different — trust me, when you’ve been scrutinizing tee sites as long as I have, you start getting tired of how many companies try to be Shirt.Woot or Teefury, and only end up shooting themselves (and their customers) in the foot.
Rant aside, I’m pleased to show off our 25% off discount code with StupidHurts.us, which takes a pretty hefty amount an already low price. “But why should I buy from StupidHurts.us,” you ask, “or why would I at least pay them a visit?”
For one, SH.us is dedicated to doing more than just offering up cheap t-shirts. They use organic American Apparel shirts — sustainable and ethically made! — and print with eco-friendly water-based inks. They also donate $2 from each shirt to Kiva.org, a microcredit organization dedicated to helping out the less fortunate. That said, it’s pretty amazing that they’ve managed to keep the price to only $13 — most companies doing any two of the above charge at least $20, and I’m being generous. Like similar sites, SH.us runs on artist submissions. I can’t find any information about what artists get in return for the prints, but it must be enough to sustain a daily flow of new prints. Plus, SH.us doesn’t claim ownership over any of the printed designs, so artists can take their art elsewhere after it’s had its run on SH.us. All of the artwork is one-color and tends to be on the simpler side, though occasionally you get eye-poppers like the beard design up there.
