Exclusive Deals number 20! Wow, we’ve come a long way, haven’t we? In honor of the special occasion, I’ve dropped the use of Roman numerals, since it’s getting to the point where I fear I’ll just make it more confusing for both myself and my readers, haha.
Today we bring you a brand from Cornwall known as SLUT (more on the name later). As an inadvertent 20th-post-special, this Exclusive Deals post is extra-large, maybe one of the largest. You can thank Matt of SLUT, who has been a really great guy to work with — super enthusiastic about his company, and more than willing to shower me with tons of information, promotional material, and a bunch of sweet photos. Scroll down to get the full gallery!
In his e-mail signature, Matt has the following:
Premium Fashion and Debauchery Lovingly Crafted by Cornish Maniacs
And in one of his e-mails, he told me this about SLUT:
SLUT is an online boutique fashion and partying brand from Cornwall, England, dedicated to serving the needs and desires of those with a penchant for seriously enjoying life.
With a firm background in surfing, skating, music, design and partying, or whatever it takes to have a bloody good time. on the clothing front we aim to be a refreshing alternative to the corporate surf brands which dominate today’s market, whilst still being able to relate to the great many of you who couldn’t care less about surfing but share our interests in brilliant clothes, partying and just plain enjoying life.
Now if that doesn’t tell you something about the company, I don’t know what will! SLUT, at its heart, is a brand built on fun — specifically, the partying kind of fun. These are shirts made for the nightclubbing crowd, made to grab attention. There are a lot of cool, bold graphic tees alongside a large collection of logo tees with the SLUT name.
Personally, I’m more of a fan of the former — not only are they generally better-designed, but I can’t ever see myself, as a woman, wearing something with the word “slut” on it. However, as I stated in the Tee Directory entry for this company, I’m not much of a party girl (hence why I sit here blogging for you folks ;P), so it’s very possible that I just can’t get into the mindset needed to wear such a charged word! If someone can go about wearing it in full confidence, then by all means more power to them.
Anyway, onto the aforementioned cool graphic tees.
This Gramophone tee is really neat. I love the simple two-color palette and the juxtaposition of the antique-style gramophone image with the bold, modern-style lightning bolts. The double colorways are both nice as well — I’m sure that people will appreciate having a choice between a dark or light shirt. Sadly, not available for women.
A deceptively simple tee, the appropriately-named “Thor” tee finds success in its minimalism and wide choice of colorways. Available in black, grey, and light blue for guys, and bold aqua and purple for girls, this tee slaps the iconic thunderbolt across your chest in the loudest way possible — just look at that aqua one! I also noticed that the bolt on the black guys colorway appears to have a metallic silver sheen, a really nice touch. The god of thunder would be proud.
Matt also asked me to mention that SLUT has free worldwide shipping and prints all their tees on American Apparel! Well, he didn’t ask me to mention the latter but it’s worth throwing out, since many t-shirt fans (myself included) base their buying decisions on shirt brands.
For more about this company, I highly recommend checking out their About page, which I haven’t quoted here for the sake of brevity. Their story is actually quite interesting; they go into why they gave SLUT the name it bears, their ethics as a business, and other tidbits.
