The fantastic guys at Tolky Monkys have setup a fun new contest to help name their new creation, the handsome fella below (the big one). It needs a new name and a background story, which they’re asking you to create! There’s some great prizes on offer, more below:
The basics:
Each one of you may propose a name and a short story, no longer than 250 words per comment.
There are a few blogs taking part, only 300 total entries are allowed so you’ll need to be quick.
Contest closes March 12th, the contest will be closed and among all the received proposals they will choose:
- The best name
- The best story
For each winner, there will be a pack of 4 Tolky Monkys items to choose among the new collection to be released on April.
Sneaky Bonus Prize 1: As one of the main blogs in the contest the two best entries from Tee-Junction will also win a surprise t-shirt or polo shirt (even if you don’t win overall).
Sneaky Bonus Prize 2: I’ll add a secret mystery gifts for each of the people selected by the Monkys for the Sneak Bonus 1 prize. What could it be? Oh its a mystery.
Remember its up to 250 words – name and short story, leave your answers in the comments, should be a lot of fun
Here are the rules in full, and here is the Tolky Monkys blog post explaining the whole lot again (including the other blogs that are involved).
To get the ball rolling I’ll add an entry of my own in the comments tonight after work (I’m not eligible to win).
Get commenting, show us your imagination
Update: Incase you’re wondering its the big one we’re naming and back storying, although you can include the little one fella as well if you like.

Here is my go:
Sir Humperdink II
A chartered accountant of some note, Lord Humperdink was knighted for services to the public, as the creator of the revolutionary glow in the dark light switch. His bizarre physical appearance is a result of a childhood accident in which during an intimate act he, his pet Unicorn Gerald and rabbit Samson III became physically fused after being struck by lightening. Growing up in a manor house in Coventry he now resides in the Arctic Tundra after a romantic disappointment in Wolverhampton.
What you reckon? Can you beat that?

[...] Go here, look at the monster on the left comment a name and if you would like a little backstory as … [...]
Let's see… He has long, well-developed back legs, and smooth green skin like an amphibian of some kind.
He also seems to have some affinity with, or control over, the elements of thunder and lightning.
It can't be…
It is!
It's a Lightning Toad!
Wait, that's not right…
It's a Thunder Frog!!!
Since I'm HenryV, this character can be HenryV the second; or 'HenryVII'. His son, recently hatched, will therefore be HenryVIII (not to be confused with the similarly-named two-timing, wife-beheading, excommunicating Tudor King of England).
Name: Mother Epom
Humans, frightened due to the consequences of natural disasters provoqued by themselves, decided to explore the outerspace, searching a new energy source. And they found it! In an asteroid near Orion humans detected a huge natural battery, mobile, and relatively little… Mother Epom, the star creator.
However, this strange being didn´t accept to leave its home. Representatives of all nations went there to beg Mother Epom, wanting her to help the Earth. It (she) was persuaded and stayed in our planet like a giant battery for all people. But this only lead to wars and fights in all places around. So Mother Epom decided to leave, dropping little battery-babies, hoping this will stop wars. But it didn't work. The babies ran away, frightened, with no hope for us.
But humans launched into the space, expecting to catch Epom babies, until nowadays….
However, they are quicker than us…
Yay entries! Thank you both Iceberg and Andy aka henryv for taking the time to enter!
