I have to say, I’m fairly disappointed in Ten Bills. After their revamp, they sold one new design a day, printed on American Apparel, for both men and women, at the titular price of $10. Granted, these designs were far from spectacular, but it was still nice to see them offer quality blanks and women’s sizes. They’ve done away with this model in recent weeks, instead opting to offer five new preorder designs a week. Suddenly, the American Apparel blanks are gone, as are the women’s sizes. If you’re going to sell your product on a preorder-only basis, why not offer the women’s sizes? It’s not like you lose anything by having extras you can’t sell. (This is how Teefury and Teextile work.) And while I can understand the financial pressure that comes with selling AA blanks at $10, the indecisiveness is more than a little unsettling. “Hey guys, we’re offering American Apparel! Whoops, now we aren’t. Sorry.”
Nevertheless, it’s nice to see Ten Bills reintroduce some designs from their previous iteration that are much more appealing than those sold during their brief existence as a “one shirt a day” site. The designs from those days are available in their T-Shirt Archive, but I can hardly say they’re worth the $20. You’d be better off spending that $20 on a ridiculously cheap hoodie.
Overall, if you’re looking for a cheap $10 tee, I’d say Shirt.Woot is a better bet — the designs and t-shirts are both of better quality, and I’m pretty sure hell would freeze over before their business model made any sudden changes. But hey, if you see something you like at Ten Bills, go right ahead — you won’t find many tee stores willing to sell their product for a measly ten bucks.
