The 80’s horror style won’t be for everyone, but I have to admit I have a special fondness for ancient Egyptian imagery. I’m surprised it isn’t more popular with tee designers — it’s so mysterious and beautiful. Maybe I’ll give it a shot myself one day, as soon as I have the patience to master Illustrator.
Either way, I do like this hoodie — entitled “Shezmu” — by DeKay Clothing. (Shhh, yes I know it isn’t a tee
) Despite the style, I actually find there is a sort of unspoken beauty in the design. The gold and blue color scheme is well chosen and is always a good accompaniment to anything ancient Egypt. The pale blue energy emanating from the zombie pharaoh’s eyes draws interest, keeping the head from getting lost in all the linework and color. I wish there was a bigger image of the artwork, so it’d be easier to appreciate the amount of detail.
The only thing stopping me from buying this at full price is the logo on the front, as I’m fundamentally opposed to wearing any sort of logo that isn’t subtle, textless, or well-integrated into the design. Wearing branding just ain’t my style. Ah well.
The hoodie is American Apparel and is available in unisex sizes only.
