Paper Root has always had incredible designs, which makes it ever more frustrating for me that they don’t have ladies’ sizes. Anyway, they’ve released their new winter line along with a new layout for their Big Cartel shop. All of the new shirts are printed on American Apparel Tri-Blend tees, which are supposedly really comfortable. The designs, as usual, span a variety of concepts and art styles, and have a great modern, upper-class streetwear look without the gigantic price tag. All of the new shirts are just $20, which is pretty surprising given the quality of this brand. I’m really loving the site redesign, too — it adds a touch of class and enhances Paper Root’s high-style sensibility.
I really love this tee, titled “The Mystical Seahorse“. I’m just a sucker for this type of art style to begin with. It’s just super elegant. The highlights in the gem look great and add interest, in case having a seahorse on your t-shirt wasn’t enough. And it’s available on a white shirt, in case you don’t like wearing black. (The white one is Tultex, in case that matters to you.)
I love images that take two people/characters and mash them up, as is the case with my beloved “Marilyn Sane” tee. “The Escape From DC” is one of the simpler shirts in Paper Root’s new lineup, but successful in that aspect. It takes the image of one of America’s most well-known presidents and mashes it up with…a famous video game character?! That’s just what I gleaned from the Emptees thread, though, so don’t take my word for it… At the same time, the title is a rather strong clue. And that fantastic mullet.
There are many other great shirts in the line, so what are you waiting for? Hop on over to the store! Not to mention you can get 10% off your order with our exclusive coupon code, junction. And maybe after you get your package, you could let us know what you think?
