Andy from Thunderfrogs here again, this time with a real-life review of designer tee-store Funkrush. Funkrush is owned and operated by Pete Harrison (aka aeiko), a freelance graphic designer. He also operates SuperCombo, which specialises in geeky gaming tees and jewellery.
I love the “Happy Death Brigade” t-shirt, a collaboration between Funkrush and TADO – so much so that in January, I bought it! The cutesy oriental-style characters, inscrutable text, and emotional oscillation combine in a rich design that gives the impression of something being lost in translation.
The t-shirt is made out of a blend of 100% cotton and 100% funk – at least, that’s what the custom tag says. The use of an undercoat layer of white ink means that the coloured sections are extra bright and punchy. The t-shirt itself is very comfortable as despite the relatively thick plastisol ink, the printed area is not huge.
Revisiting the site last week I noticed the very reasonable price of the art prints. The one that caught my eye (and opened my wallet) was the 88 Ghosts print by Olly Moss. Yes, that Olly Moss. And that Olly Moss.
My fellow Tee-Junctioners Adam and Coty also took advantage of the 88 Ghosts for only £5, which I think represents fantastic value – that’s 17.6 ghosts per £1, or less than 6p per ghost! (Even less if you use the exclusive discount code at the bottom of this post!)
The promised ‘high-quality postage tube’ lived up to expectations, as the print soon arrived safe and sound. The titular apparitions are rendered in vivid colour, on a great quality glossy A3 print. Included are a bikini ghost, zombie ghost, y-front ghost, and many more!
I’ve only scratched the surface of the Funkrush store here, so check out the full collection which includes t-shirts, hoodies, prints, stickers, badges, and socks. Use the discount code TEEJUNCTION to save 15% on anything in store!
