Oh man, Threadless. First you lower everything to $12, then you give us a one-day $9, sale, then you release 16 new shirts and reprints in a week, and then… another $9 sale, only a little more than a week after the first? You are far too kind to your fans. Sadly, the only shirts I’m interested in (The Last Day of Pegasus and Sea Foam Sea Turtle) are already sold out in my size (proof that Threadless should release more designs like these), but there are still plenty of cool in-stock tees. Not to mention this week, we get a whopping 18 new tees and reprints!
“This Game Sucks” was one of last week’s releases, and a great gift for any gamer, particularly those who grew up with the classics. All the bases are covered here, from Mario to Pacman to Mega Man. Even oft-ignored Frogger makes an appearance! I’m sure a lot of us can agree that the game of Real Life! does suck from time to time. I’m a little ambivalent about the creme blank, but it works well with the vintage style and color scheme. Another good gaming tee is one of this week’s reprints, “This Is Not A Pipe.”
…Oh my. I’ve always seen Threadless as a pretty family-friendly brand, so it’s fairly surprising to see a design like this crop up amongst this week’s new tees. “That is Inappropriate” displays various vulgar, socially unacceptable acts in all their glory. I’d never wear something like this, but I’m sure some people will find it appealing. The artistic execution and fantastic use of color saves it from being yet another ’shock’ tee from the likes of every humor/slogan shirt site on the planet.
“Foxy Hip Hop” is an eclectic, watercolor-styled piece that also happens to be the only featured tee this week that isn’t printed on a creme shirt! The concept seems to have no real reasoning to it (not one I can see, anyway, maybe I’m just that lacking in knowledge when it comes to hip hop) but the fox sure looks snazzy in that headband and sunglasses! A very cool, urban/hipster-style tee.
