Anything worthwhile has a day named after it (talk like a pirate day, beard day, cheese on toast day). Feb 29th is “international tee-junction day”, aptly picked as it occurs as frequently as our new posts, at least of late! Now t-shirt lovers we’ll have our own day, at least if my old buddies at Spreadshirt have anything to do with it….
Introducing June 20th (US) – International Day of the T-shirt!
A great idea guys. As a t-shirt collector this will give me a chance to revel once again in that little piece of cotton genius that I wear 99% of my days. Or I can share my passions, frustrations, or just some really great art with the masses. I owe a lot to t-shirts, or rather the people like you who are interested in them enough to fund lots of cool platforms/business that sell them. My dissertation was about them (Threadless), my last job was working with them (Spreadshirt), my first blog was about them (HipHipUK, my trip to MIT was to talk about them (Crowdsourcing), this blog is about them. I owe t-shirts a lot. So I’m whole-heartedly supporting international t-shirt day.
How can you help?
I’m sure there are a few t-shirt companies who occasionally browse this page. If so help support the contest, blog about it, twitter it, tell your customers about it. Run a sales incentive or one-off one day sale.

What will we do here?
1. I’ve been thinking about how I can take part, and I’ve decided on “The Twelve Tshirts of Tshirt Day” – I’ll wear my twelve favourite t-shirts on that day, all at one time, which will no doubt be heavy, and hot.
2. Then each hour I’ll take one off, bloggin the new one right here on tee-junction. Like a very, very slow geeky t-shirt strip-tease.
3. I’ll give the first commenter to say the shirts name and where the shirt comes from each hour a $25 Threadless voucher (max of one per person, thanks for the sales referrals
.
There are some flaws in this plan, before I left for travelling I had over 100 tshirts, then before I left I gave most away, travelling with just six. Since then I’ve added a few more (thanks DBH referrals) and theres another 4 or 5 Threadless’ in the post. So mine might not be all that exciting, or hard to win. The other possibly fatal flaw is that I live in New Zealand, which has the same timezone as the island on Lost. So while you’ll be awake it will be 1972 here, and then when I’m awake dinosaurs will roam Europe. But whatever, I’ll try and make it work.
Now time to go t-shirt hunting….

Great idea, and it will be fun to see what shirts you show up in. Have to figure out what we’ll do to celebrate over at Shirts on Sale.
Every day is t-shirt day, in my book.
whoops, just realised i completely forgot about this. I thought it was the 30th. Damn. Now I feel stupid. Thats why there was no 12 days of tshirt thing, or any threadless vouchers given away. Oh well I guess there’s always next year
In the meantime I’ll think of another give-away we can do for some of the threadless street team points I got from the summer sale.
hey adam.
what about doing it on the first day of summer in new zealand?
all the best from zig-zag-leipzig,
tobias
Love the idea!!! I’ll have to prepare us for next year!!! Love the site!!
