Snorg Tees originally got into the t-shirt business in the fall of 2004, and one redesign later the current site stands proud adorned with cottony goodness.
The site is run by two brothers, who do many of the designs, and professional artists are hired to do the rest; “We mainly use one artist who is awesome. We’ll probably have to give him a bonus or something to keep him around!†says one half of the related founding team. I’m not sure how much of the operation is run via Spreadshirt but there is a Spreadshirt store if you want to customise the designs on to something other than tees. Designs after the jump
“When we hire an artist to do a design for us, we usually pay them an hourly rate or per job. We typically have a good idea of what we are looking for in the design and try to sketch it out for the artist before they start or at least give a detailed description. This works out very well because sometimes we can visualize a concept that we can’t execute in the proper manner, but a good graphic artist can make happen.â€
They also pay out a flat fee for t-shirt ideas, that is kept super-secret, and is based on how much they like the idea.
With most of the shirts priced at $16.95 they’re reasonably cheap, and with the conversion rate of dollars being what it is us Euro-dwellers get a good rate.
All t-shirts produced now are done on American Apparel, but there are some tees in stock floating around on other brands, and all are screen prints.
One brother has been making a living from the site since early 2006, but the other is stuck in college at GA Tech, with plans to join the cotton empire upon graduation. I can’t believe that
